Frequently Asked Questions

What is VectoStar?2022-11-12T09:58:27-05:00

VectoStar is a web-based data service designed for the collection, management, reporting and maintenance of data specific to organized mosquito control operations. Both in the office and in the field VectoStar offers simple solutions for maintaining a relational database.

How do I access VectoStar and VectoStar Mobile?2022-11-12T10:01:12-05:00

Your access levels for both VectoStar Data Center and VectoStar Mobile are established by your system administrator.

I can’t sign on to VectoStar. What should I do?2022-11-14T06:37:25-05:00

Check with your administrator to verify your user ID and password. If you still had difficulties, contact VectoStar Support.

How does offline operation work?2022-11-14T06:38:42-05:00

Offline operation mode provides maximum operational flexibility and function for VectoStar Mobile users. Once you have synchronized your tablet with the VectoStar servers you can operate without being connected to either WiFi or cellular data Internet service. When connectivity is reestablished, performing another “sync” operation will make sure your tablet is updated with current data from the VectoStar Data Center servers, and that VectoStar Data Center reflects activity recorded on your tablet while offline.

What is “map caching” and how do I do it?2022-11-14T06:39:40-05:00

While connected to the VectoStar servers, you need to tell VectoStar what parts of the map should be stored or “cached” on your tablet. Since storing the map of the entire world would not be workable (!) this step lets you store details of your local geography for navigation and pinpointing activities while you are off line.

Will VectoStar Mobile be available on smartphones?2022-11-14T06:40:19-05:00

A version of VectoStar mobile tailored to the small screen of smart phone devices is in our future product roadmap. If you have an immediate need, please discuss this with you Skysoft representative or contact VectoStar Support.

Can I have duplicate Site names?2022-11-14T06:41:37-05:00

Duplicate site names are not allowed in VectoStar to prevent confusion for users and ensure accurate reporting of activity.

My data was migrated from an older system. Will it be identical in the new VectoStar?2022-11-14T06:42:31-05:00

Data from older systems usually has some issues that need to be corrected. Common issues include duplicate Site names, misspelling of the names of sites, chemicals, etc. and other data quality issues. As part of the migration process to VectoStar, these issues need to be resolved so that you can get a fresh start with a system that you can rely upon now and in the future. We will work with you to ensure that data correction and changes occur in a local way that positions you future easy ongoing operation.

I can’t access all of the functions on my tablet like games and the online store. Why?2022-11-14T06:44:57-05:00

Many VectoStar Mobile tablets are pre-installed with special software that allows for access only to applications designated by your organization. If you require access to additional applications, please contact your administrator.
